The High School football season is coming to an end and the playoffs are right around the corner.  We are currently in Week 10 with one week to go and some of the best football is being played here at home in Tangipahoa Parish.  Some of the best talent in the state will be in action this Friday, November 3, and some of these student athletes have made national attention.

In Hammond, Louisiana at 7 P.M. Central Time, the Amite Warriors and the St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons square off in a District 8-2A game.  As some may already know, the Amite Warriors have two athletes who are considered as two of the best in the nation for the class of 2019.  Ishamael Sopsher is consider by some to be one of the best players, if not the best player, in the nation in the 2019 class.  His fellow teammate and Wide Receiver Devonta Lee is considered a top 50 prospect and has moved up most recruiting charts after his recent play.  Tyrus Wheat is a 2018 recruit (Safety) who is currently committed to the University of Missouri, and may be the hardest hitting defender in the state. The St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons however have started to find their grove under first year Head Coach Hutch Gonzales.  The Falcons are coming off a big program win in which they were led by Sophomore Quarterback Kade Blaeakley who threw four touchdown passes.  The Amite Warriors (9-0) will be going into Hammond Friday looking to finish the regular season undefeated however should not overlook the Falcons (5-4) whose coach has one of the most innovative offensive minds around.

In Kentwood, Louisiana this Friday night there will be more talent on the field than maybe anywhere in the state.  The Kentwood Kangaroos (8-1) are coming off a big win against Ascension Catholic and will host Southern Lab in their season finale.  Southern Lab rolls in with some current LSU commits such as Demone Clark, Kardell Thomas, and one of the top running backs in the 2019 class in Tyrion Davis who is also committed to the Tigers.  The Kangaroo’s however have one of their on who is considered one of the best overall players in the nation in 2019 class, Trey Palmer.  Palmer is a 5-Star athlete in some rankings and from what one recruiter who stated to me “he is the most explosive kid I have seen in the State since Odell Beckham.”  This is some high praise, but Palmer is showing on the field it is not hype and he belongs.  There will be a plethora amount of talent which will be in action this weekend in Tangipahoa Parish and more talent in which we did not mention. This is a great combination of games this Friday leading us to the playoffs, and if you have a chance should check one of these games out!
